Trying to remember how much they actually need, but it's been 5 years and I'm having a hard time remembering. I know not all babies follow the sizing, but my others always did. Like they actually wore 0-3mo for 3 months, ect. I have very little saved from my older kids, so trying to get most of it with the Kohl's $10/10. So how am I doing numbers wise and what do I still need?

Size NB
1 outfit to come home from the hospital in

Size 0-3mo (Feb-April)
5 fleece sleepers
5 terry sleepers
3 cotton sleepers
1 outfit- I rarely change them out of sleepers the first few months
Still need hats, but haven't found much at Kohl's

Size 3-6mo (May-July)
4 cotton sleepers
We don't blast the AC, so I figure he'll sleep in just a onsie and diaper on the really hot nights

Size 6-9mo (Aug-Oct)
2 cotton sleepers
2 outfits

Respectfully disagree with shoes. A decent pair of Robeez knock-offs and good socks with work just fine. Sleepers don't require shoes anyway.

I'd add a cozy fleece coat with hood and some mittens.

Oh man, I must go WAY overboard! I would think that you need a lot more than that. When my kids were little, we were constantly changing them because the diapers or bottles leaked or something. Too bad you aren't having a girl...I just went through like 15 bins of girls clothes size 0-5 and priced them to get rid of since I'm having a boy.

I never do shoes until they start walking. As far as a coat goes I have a fleece thing that goes over the carseat, so a sleeper and some blankets should be enough under that.

bmezo22- I'm trying to decide if I have enough (especially in 0-3mo) or nowhere near enough. I also usually do laundry twice a week. And I'm doing the same thing going though girl clothes. I got rid of most of the tiny stuff a couple years ago when I swore we were done. Then around 12mo starting saving it again. I have twin girls, so you can imagine the amount of girl clothes I have!

Honestly, I think you will definitely need way more outfits if you are doing laundry twice a week. My dd spit up a lot and of course the occassional messy/leaky diapers(more so in the first month or so) and it seemed like we were constantly changing her.

We are big fans of the halo sleep sacks for nighttime instead of a blanket.

I would hit the thrift store and grab a few more of everything:-) I agree u can never have too much! Sometimes they do need to be changed multiple times a day, especially if u have a spittter baby, or when the start baby food.

I guess I'm glad I asked, because I was thinking 13 sleepers would be plenty. I haven't had a baby in the house in 5 years, and that was twins. I haven't bought for ONE baby in almost 8 years, so I guess my memory is way off.

I had planned on getting most of it at the thrift store, but I've been using the Kohl's Q's instead. Carters cotton and terry sleepers are 9.99 and the fleece ones are 10.99, so $1-2 each (including the cost of the coupons).

From my experience--clothes seem to multiply--once you have the baby--most people I know donate items to you--not to mention the new outfits you get as gifts--so be prepared for that---
I was always amazed--the baby seemed to have more clothes than anyone else in the family

This is true...also, when garage sale season rolls around, you'll be able to get a lot of stuff pretty cheap.

I also agree with pp's - I'd get more clothes. DS (a week old) went through four changes of clothes yesterday alone.

Updated numbers

Newborn size
4 cotton sleepers
1 terry sleeper
5 onsies plus 5 side snap shirts
6 cotton hats

0-3mo
11 cotton sleepers
8 terry sleepers
6 fleece sleepers
14 onsies
5 long sleeve onsies
3 outfits

I know I need to get him a winter hat and some socks. Debating getting a few more NB sleepers in warmer material like fleece or just hope the 0-3 will fit okay. Anything else I need in these sizes? Or start stocking up on bigger sizes? I really appreciate any advice. I feel like I should know this, but it's been too long!

Personally, I'd probably quit on the newborn sizes because they probably won't wear them very long. For the most part, I just started with 0-3 mo. and skipped NB altogether. But then again, I apparently have big babies (one just over 9 lb. and one at 8 lb. 11 oz.)
