I have a neighbor who is moving to a smaller home and getting rid of their stand up freezer and said we could have it if we wanted.

We already have one in the basement but have room for another. I'm tempted but not sure if it's "overkill". It would be so nice not to have to "shove and push" things into my over packed freezer but if I was being truthful I would have to admit the "new" freezer would also become packed eventually.

Not sure if it's worth the extra energy bill/wattage and worrying about one more freezer door being accidently left open not to mention the headache of a power outage!

How many freezers to y'all have and do you ever wish you had more?

I have one upright and 2 freezers from Jewel , plus the freezer compartment on the refrigerator. Just empty one freezer and unplug it, the others are all full to the rim.

If it's free, and you have use for it, PSHHH yeah!! :) And if you decide you don't need it, call ComEd and get a discount on your electricity bill when you donate it.

Not at all! Grab it while you can. Even if you don't use it, you always have it as a backup.

I just unplugged my deep freeze due to lack of items in it, moved everything to fridge freezer.

But if I had a chance to get another I'd get it, ya never know when it might come in handy .......

i have two fridgies and one large chest freezer which i never use. dunno what is in there. i keep all my soda pop on top, lol

Oh, and we found a need for our chest freezer while not in real use.....we put grain foods in it. cut the freezer down to lowest setting. Just enough to make sure it stays fresh and we dont get those bugs in the warm pantry where we usually keep them

like that idea!!!

I would definately take it! if you won't use it as a freezer right now it will be good for storage! (hiding christmas presents:lol:) When you need it most you'll be prepared!

Jump on it! You can always unplug it when not in use and since the spreads may never return, it may be unplugged. But when a deal is going on you won't regret having it. Just pay attention to the electricity bill each month and compare what you've got in the freezer to the bill. That is how you will truly see if it's worth it for your family. 1 fridge with freezer and I chest freezer works for our family. There have only been a few times where I felt that I " needed" more freezer space:)

Prices are to increase, as they are always threatening to do. If you can get it for free, take it. If you "need" it, you'll have it.

I have 2 and have never regretted it...although one is 1/2 filled with critters DH & sons catch and kill...

I think asking this group, you're not very likely gonna get an answer that says two freezers are overkill. Same thing if you asked us if you have too many coupons.

We're a bunch of enablers.

Yes, I've got 2 stand up freezers myself. :giggles: So yes, my vote would be to grab it.
