I saw the Roku2 on QVC a little while back, and was wondering if anyone has used it and if its as good they are saying.... You are supposed to be able to watch tv shows through this device via wireless internet. I just seems to good to be true. They made it seem like you won't have a need for cable or dish if yu have it. SO, anyone using this???

I'm using Roku 1 & 2. :) They're both pretty awesome but you need a subscription to either Netflix or Hulu Plus to actually watch anything on it. The box itself doesn't have anything free except a few news channels and a couple free movie channels like Crackle.

If you use Amazon prime you can also view prime instant videos. If you rent or buy Amazon digital videos you can watch them too.

Ahhhh finally I have found someone that actually uses it! So, it can't really replace your cable or satellite dish. Its basically to stream netflix movies and programming. I know it was too good to be true. I swear QVC will say anything to sell a product.

LOL That's true of any salesman. :)

You could replace your cable but you'd be missing news and a lot of network shows. Hulu Plus ~ $10/mo has a lot of the network shows though.

So far it has been great. All the features you described are true and I have yet to find any major fault with the device. They are getting cheaper and better with every model.

Instead of Roku, I'd go all out and get a home theater, they are about $100 more and you get the full package, music/dvd/streams etc. Roku is as good as your paid subscriptions. The box is useless to you if you don't subscribe to Hulu, Netflix etc but with the home theater you can utilize it without the stream subs

Thanks Hot Mess.... I will absolutely positively be looking into this. I am so tired of being a slave of Cable, or Satellite TV. Remember when you were a kid and it used to be free to watch tv? All you had to do, was purchase a tv? Ok, maybe I am getting very old....

Good luck with the search.

I agree that getting access to great television is too expensive nowadays. I watch a lot of TV but most of the shows I really love, that are must watch, are all on cable and premium cable.

Even if you get the home theater you'll have to subscribe to some of the various streaming providers like Hulu plus, Amazon and Netflix if you want that service.

It is all about $$$$
