My husband is waiting for the weather to turn decent because he absolutely adores mountain biking to work. Although his workplace is only 15 miles from home, it’s all treacherous interstate travel.

However, he was born/raised in this part of the state and grew up trashing around in the woods, forests and State parks. So he knows every back road and goat path in the state like the back of his hand and could navigate it in his sleep!

When he gets through winding his way through mountainous wilderness, ol’ Daniel Boone will have put about 30-40 miles on that bike to get to work each day. He enjoys putting in extra mileage on the way home, though.

I don't but I used to work with a guy that would ride his bike 9 miles to work every day, then ride it home. If the weather was great he would run it. Guy was crazy in shape. Our bosses actually told him he couldn't ride to work when there was snow/ice on the ground and made people give him a ride. He didn't have a driver's license so that was the big deal.

I used to at my old job, it was around 4 miles or so to get to work which was easily done on a bike. However now I have no choice but to take my car or else I would have to come into work drenched in sweat and too tired to do anything not to mention the ride back home. I definately think it kept me in shape when I used to ride to work, I had no need to do any cardio and kept myself fit along with a bit of weight training too.

LOL, I get your point, SpinKick …

Turner’s got a “sit-on-your-butt” job … (well, sort of) …

He worries a little bit about ye olde middle-aged spread -- but he doesn’t worry a whole lot about being sweaty and smelly at work.

He really puts forth a lot of thought and some supreme effort into trying to be physical at every available moment. It’s really important to him, probably because he has participated heavily in sports all his life.

And maybe what he does all day has a lot to do with his “drive” …

That page always makes this run through my head. Brian gets a kick out of it …

I used to ride to work, it was a 20 minute ride but quite challenging because there were hills along the way. I think it's a great way to start the day, good for lowering stress and invigorating yourself for the day ahead.

I used to have my own mountain bike to roam around the streets, but I didn't use it anymore due to my busy schedule. But if I do have time, I can simply adjust my daily schedule to ride my own mountain bike for me to exercise.

I used to, back when I was in college, and the dorms were about half an hour away by bike. It was an easy way to get me awake when it's still cold and a little dark outside in the early morning. It clears the cobwebs too.

I really want to get into mountain bike riding. What are some good bikes? Im only looking to spend 200-500. Is Merin a good brand?

I definitely want to get a road bike to get around on while getting some exercise in. It's a great way to stay in shape and is functional as well.

Depends on what you want to have. I myself rode only two times a day and had a Nail Tail 29er which served me quite well. I still have it and I haven't had any problems so far so I only can recommend it.

I own a mountain bike but I have never rode it to work, just because I am so lazy in the morning!
I am also a bit scared to ride it because of the traffic in the morning as everyone is in a rush to head to the office.

I can't wait for summer to come so that I can ride it in the park :D

I just want a decent bike that while last me awhile. Doesnt have to be flashy.

Just google "affordable road bike reviews" and you will get a handful of writings about this topic. Even if you don't want something flashy, it will cost you good money, so I'd suggest you read a few things before buying something in order to not waste your money. Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for the recommendation man. I'll check it out.

Most definitely! I am a huge biking fan, and I spend several hours a week simply biking for fun. Though I don't bike for sport, I usually use the wheels to get around to do things that are nearby. Helps a lot!

You might also want to check Craig’s List. You just never know -- something decent and affordable could be lurking right there in your own neighborhood.

The Jordan offers the smartest and soundest advice for you. Definitely do your due diligence and research anything you’re considering -- those things ain’t cheap. Google can be a very good resource for shoppers.

When you see something you like, you can also go to Amazon.com and search for the same item there. Chances are they’ll have it -- or something very similar -- and many times they have used ones available for less money. It will also give you a feel for what you can expect to pay.

But the coolest thing about this site is that lots of everyday people buy the same item you’re shopping for there, and then they submit their personal reviews. I always have a look at what folks are saying there before making purchases for nearly anything.
