I was recently at a grad party for one of DH's family members. His aunt mentioned to a friend that I am a couponer. This friend says that she regularly shops from a couponer.

Says that she sends out weekly emails of all the products she has available, and that she offers a TON of stuff (even went to say she never has to go to the grocery store b/c she has so much including fresh produce, meat, dairy, ect.). Included that she regularly sells 12 pk of pop for $2.

Anyone else find this hard to believe?? I mean, maybe a couple/few years ago, but still now? I can find some great deals sometimes that include dairy meat and produce but would never be able to buy enough to resell for a profit and send out weekly mass e-mails.

I don't know why it irritated me so much that she was telling this, I guess just b/c I knew she was lying straight to my face. Petty, I know.

Who would you risk buying perishables like meat from another person? Total BS story. Why would you buy something off of someone you know is couponing and give them the profit when you could do it yourself?

I do this, to an extent. I used to do it way more when deals were better.

For me many times it is more cost-effective to buy things I don't use (Pantene, Hamburger Helper, etc) and sell it (at a net profit after deals) to buy the things I do use.

But I am a pretty good couponer and have very little overstock anymore. I buy stuff from people to resell online, but I definitely don't have the "garage list" stuff I used to, more's the pity. I imagine "extreme couponers" who live in areas with doubles like DeKalb or Rockford can still rock deals but it takes so much more time than it used to. Down here anyway, gone are the days when one could just hog a SCOT and roll for hours.

I would say unless you're actually in town the distances between stores would eat up your profit in gasoline.

I know I am not supposed to answer...but that sounds like Rhonda. She is in Wi...but a bit further up (like other side of Milwaukee).

Rhonda-Tracy-Rhonda?

Red, since I'm a curious beyotch, I would've asked her for contact information and pretended I wanted to be a customer.

Wow if this has Rhonda-Tracy all over it, all the more interesting!
I thought about deleting this post bc it sounded so petty but I'm glad I didn't to hear the feedback.

And now I'm pissed I didn't find out who/where she is!
