If I ever hit the states, shooting is something I really want to do. I doubt I'd ever get the opportunity to shoot a gun here.

I used to know a guy who worked in a gun store, and his store stocked Barrett 50.cal sniper rifles. BARRETT 50.CAL SNIPER RIFLES!

Why on earth would you need something like that?
Hunting? You'd turn a ****ing rabbit into red paste.
Self-defense? Other than it not really being a close-quarters weapon, firing it at close range is likely to send any unfortunate soul flying across your living room AND is a bit over-kill.

Because big, loud toys are fun- the larger the hole it leaves in the target, the better, in many cases. My father and I like to shoot explosive targets that blow chunks of wood everywhere.

It has nothing to do with the size or the power of a weapon. It is about us citizens having access to the same sort of weapons our own government has to protect ourselves from that government. The 2nd Amendment is not about making sure we can all have weapons to HUNT with, it is about making sure we have any weapon we choose to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government; the same type of weapons our government can have access to and use against US.

I'm not on about the size; I just can't understand why someone would need such a weapon in their house when a handgun or rifle would do the trick.
