Whois search for a domain

If the owner of the domain has decided to hide the personal information, you cannot see anything except when the domain was registered and when it was last updated, and where the domain is hosted or registered.

Exactly ?, that's one good way to make it impossible for your data to be easily accessed by just anyone who's looking for to find something on your website. My brother do it most of the time with his domain.

Doing a WhoIs look up is mostly pointless unless you're looking up the details of a domain of a business in which case you can sometimes get contact details. Most people will just use an identity protection service which is basically free now with all domain registrars. It's not as useful a service as it once was now that GDPR is a big deal.

I have to agree with the others above me here in saying that whois databases are kind of pointless because of all of the privacy protection you get from domain sellers now it rarely has any useful information about the domain. If you're looking for contact details they are mostly just fake protection addresses and names are always removed to. It used to be a really good way of finding out information but long gone are the days that people keep that info public now.
