So, I know that this is highly impossible and all.
Still, it's okay to allow the imagination run wild. So, what will you do you come across an alien? Will your reaction depends on the size of the alien? Or will your reaction depends on the way it looks?

Will you run or will you just pretend that you are hallucinating?

It really would depend on how it looks. If it is scary or looks at all creepy i would run away in an instant. If not i would attempt to communicate with it and befriend it. An alien might come in handy

I think I'd probably try to be friendly to it as long as it's not super giant. I always consider myself an alien myself, so to me...It'd be like an ally in alien-ness. [Serious: my dad wrote 'extra terrestrial' as our race on our census forms a few years ago].

Hopefully not want to build a giant wall like Donald Trump.

Though, in reality, I would be too... Awestruck in the moment to make any smart decisions about whether I should be passive or weary towards that alien. I would probably just hide in any nearby cover while trying to contact someone in time to witness those aliens.

That's probably the logical thing to do, I'd say. In reality, most of us would do differently than we think we would at the moment, because in the moment instincts kick in more than when you're just contemplating. If I think of my usual instincts...I'd try and fail at running away or just go into a general panic because they're strangers either way. ^^;

And oh boy, building a wall between us and extraterrestrials would be...Er...Very difficult and possibly kill us. xD

At this point in time, I think intelligent life on other planets is extremely rare. Current data suggests that the universe is about 13.8 billion years old. This may seem like a long to us, but we have to look at it with a certain perspective. Stars are expected to continue to form for at least 10 trillion years, and some higher estimates are 100 trillion years. Some red dwarfs that exist right now are going to burn for 5+ trillion years. They will be shining long after the Sun has died.

If we divide 13.8 billion by 10 trillion, we get .00138. Multiply this by 100 and we get 0.138%. This means the universe has gone though .138% of its star-forming life. If the universe was a person who lived to be 80 years, they would be about 40 days old.

If you think about it this way, the Fermi paradox suddenly makes sense. We do not observe aliens because there are none. We think 13.8 billion years is a long time, but it really isn't. Especially if intelligent life takes 4+ billion years to evolve. And even then there are no guarantees that a habitable planet will spawn intelligent life. Life may be common, but intelligent life that can change their environment the way we can is most likely extraordinarily rare. There are so many random events that had to occur for Homo sapiens to evolve it absolutely mind-boggling. Honestly, if there wasn't evidence that contradicts the belief that the world was created in 7 days by God, it would be logical and rational to believe it. Even now I still entertain the possibility.

Perhaps in a far away area of the universe there is a planet with intelligent life that contemplates these questions as well. But for us, here in the Milky Way, I am very confident that there are no aliens. We would have detected their presence already, as we have been looking up for 400+ years. For all intents and purposes, we are alone.

Like you said, my reaction would probably depend on the size of the alien. If it was tiny then I doubt I would be too scared but quite curious. I wouldn't touch it, just to make sure I don't piss it off lol or get shot. If it was a larger alien then I would definitely run away, but I would try to get one of those cliche blurry pictures first so I can get on the front page of the newspapers.

All the replies are really interesting.
As for me, I would probably poke it first. Just to see how it feels like...I don't mind the size of the alien :)

I'd say "Take me to your leader." and probably follow with "Then, I'll take you to mine afterwards" XD. I do believe that it isn't impossible that there are other intelligent beings in the vastness of the universe. Why not picture them as nice and intelligent :openedeyewink: Don't you think that it would be so interesting to know what they are and where they come from? Plus, if it is a possibility, I'd probably make friends with him/her/it. We would be able to learn about each other's origins and be able to solve some problems of the mother planets where we are from. "If possible."

I hoping that they wont hurt me. I want to make friends with them because they are different. And obviously, if the government finds out that they exist, the government will hurt them and will do some experiments and I wanna help them, thatS why I wanna be friends with them.

If it's scary and trying to go for me, then I'd surely run as fast as I can away from it. Meeting an alien who looks rather friendly and not wanting to eat me alive is something that will just freeze me up. Maybe I'd back away a couple of feet from fear, but maybe, with curiosity, I'd watch and observe. Who knows!? Maybe I've seen one and I just didn't know. We don't know how they look.

I don't think it is impossible for aliens to exist. We cannot be the only living beings to exist. Just because scientist are unable to discover other beings in this galaxy, that does not mean they do not exist in other galaxies. They are definitely out there and maybe their technology is not advanced enough yet to discover us just like our technology is not advanced enough to fly past the moon with people. If I across an alien that would be the most exciting to ever happen. It would be ideal to become friends , travel to their planet, and learn about the culture. But I agree with the others, I am sure our government would get a hold of them first and poke and pull at them before we would get a chance to get to know them.

I think that my reaction would depend on the alien behavior if he is aggressive or not. If he is friendly I guess I would try to talk to him and find more about the world they come from, how they live what technology they have, etc.
If he is aggressive would run as fast as I can.

Depends on what they will look like. I have only seen aliens in movies that are too scary, probably I will scream on top of lungs once I have come across with any aliens looking like that. If ever they look liked the one in the Korean Series which is played by Kim Soo-Hyun, oh come on! I will totally do anything just to be friends with the alien, it's the coolest!

I would stay away from it! :P Even if it looked, sound, even said it was friendly, i wouldn't believe it! :P Its from another planet where lying may exist. :P That said, i wouldn't hurt it either (unless it hurt me first), but i would still stay well clear. :P
