That is too cute!!!

The trainer suggested driving a short distance and walking her somewhere we could sit for a bit so she could take in her surroundings. I think I may start to walk her in the mornings near the library. There's a field across the street where lots of folks walk and a bench near the library. We'd walk on the sidewalk so she wouldn't be too close to the peeps but close enough to know they're there.

Now to get up early enough to do this. :surrender:

Great idea! Sadie gets in the car with us every morning to take the boys to school. After I drop them off, we stop at a beautiful park near the school and go for a walk..........it's her favoritestest part of her day! :bliss:

(side note, I've made sort of friends with a homeless lady who hangs out there every morning lol........love chatting with her)

For the past three mornings I've been driving Sophie into town and took short walks with her. We park across the street from the library, walk up and down the block for a while and then sit on a bench in the field. She has been pretty much terrified during these walks. Lots of trembling going on.

I e-mailed the trainer yesterday and he suggested continuing the walk but not to stop & sit and also not to talk to her during the walk (aside from giving her commands). So we tried it that way this morning (and I also put on her thundershirt). I'm not really sure the thundershirt made all that much difference. While we were sitting was when I had really noticed the trembling so it's hard to say if she was trembling less today, but it did seem a tiny bit better. I think I just have to keep exposing her to different things and eventually she will be a little less afraid of new stuff.

Keep up the good work Joan! She'll get better with time. :)

Thanks Rebecca! I wouldn't run out and buy that thundershirt for Sadie just yet. Sophie does look awfully cute in it. As soon as I put it on her she started rolling around the bed in it and then jumped off the bed and was rubbing against the walls. Yup - she's a bit of an oddball.
