My 11 year old brought home the first two books of the twilight series from the library.
Ok for her to read? I know very very little of the series. I'm looking specifically for content inappropriate for her age group.
I know enough about the movie she shouldn't see it yet so we won't be renting that. I have no interest in reading these books to see if they're ok.
Thanks in advance for your opinions and help!

I read them but can't remember details... I do remember my sister only allowing her daughter to read the first 3 because the last one has the sexual situations/pregnancy.

Thanks!
Maybe I should read the last one.
DD's 1/2 sister had a baby two years ago and is getting married next month. I already had to explain the sex/baby better to wait thing. :nopompom:

Aaaah, I remember reading VC Andrews books when I was 10 or 11. I don't think the bit of sex in the last book would harm anyone. It's not pornographic.

If she's mature and a precocious reader, I would let her read them all. There are "book club" discussion forms for the series on the Internet, you could review each with her and make sure she understands what's going on.

My 15 yo started reading them a couple of years ago then stopped. I do remember her saying they were inappropriate. I would think no for an 11 year old. I think they were mainly written for older teens/young adults.

They technically are a romance book between seniors in high school. There is a lot of boy I wish he would kiss me and wow she is amazing can't get enough of being around her kind of stuff.

I'm not sure I would want my 11 yr old reading but with ICarley and tv shows like where the kids are dating and kissing it's probably nothing she already hasn't seen/heard.

I agree. While they do eventually have sex, it's only after marriage and it's not detailed.

I think they are mostly appropriate but I also think you should read them first, or with her. They are actually well written entertaining books. There are not too many books out there that adults and kids will both like.
