Do you have any kind of retirement fund started or established?

I just recently got one going because my place of work just got 401K's and I am really happy about that! :)

nope, I don't have a main job yet (just a small part time job). I most likely won't get one going till I'm in my 30s or whenever I'm financial stable.

You can always get something going if you have even the smallest amount that you can invest. Hopefully you can get one going before then because that'll put you at retiring at quite the old age :(

If only so simple, I have no idea what retirement will be like when I reach my 60s and if any systems in place now will still work then or if legally retirement is still at 50s, 60s or even 70s. For now I need to focus on my current lifestyle, once I have that set in stone I can focus on retirement which I'll do by working a high paying job and living on a modest lifestyle.

I suppose, I mean myself I am currently putting 3% of each of my paychecks into a 401k plus the 3% that my work place will match up to each time. Is it a small amount? Probably but it's an investment so it has chance to go up depending on the market. Of course it also has about the same chance to go down but I am not entirely worried about that right now seeing as I am investing at high risk with my 401k.

However, to each their own lifestyle :) who am I to tell you what to do with your money?

I have a 401K. I put a certain amount of money in there every pay period and my employer matches what I put in there up to a certain percentage.

I just think it be silly to start saving for your retirement if you're still trying to build up your own life.

Hopefully there will be a retirement age when I get that old.

I'm also saving money for a house right now and still able to pay for everything. However, I do have a full time job and work 40 or more hours every week and I don't pay for my own health insurance yet.

I'm building up my life however I am focusing on getting a house so that I can keep building up. Also 3% of my check is nothin and they take it out before taxes.
