Punishment for murder?

I think the punishment for murder should be a death penalty.

The death penalty should only be given if it's 100% confirmed that he/she did the murder and the murder was not an accident and was deliberate.

What if you murdered a corrupt politician...  Or someone who accidentally killed your family member?  Maybe someone who hurt your family...

As I said, the death penalty should only be given if the murder was intended. If someone killed someone from my family due to a car accident which wasn't even their fault, it would be unfair to punish that person because that person never intended to kill my family member. I would be angry at first, but I wouldn't take action.

How about car accident under the influence?

This reminds me of the show called Dexter, where the main characters kills people that have done wrong in their life, like stealing tons of money from others or killing young kids while driving intoxicated.

He feels justified for killing these people.  And I think their death by his hands is justified.  I don't think he deserves to die by murdering these people.  Always depends on the circumstances.  An eye for an eye is outdated in this case, and automatic death penalty for murder isn't always the correct choice.

You're putting me in the spotlight, haha.

After an major accident, police get involved and investigate by taking blood tests and they investigate whether the driver was under the influence if alcohol, etc.

If I found out that the driver was under the influence of alcohol then I would talk action because then it's his/her fault.

He/She should know the consequences of alcohol.

It should depend on the situation and the things that lead to the murder. If it's a psycho, then I would go with death penalty

Death penalty. If you kill someone for any reason other than self defence you deserve the death penalty. Would also help with population control and less would need to be spent on prisons

I would entirely base it on the reason of the murder and the severity of the violence

This is kind of what I was thinking. You also have to give consideration to people that are serial killers or the people that have murdered multiple individuals.

I would definitely give them life in prison without the possibility of parole. At least they can't hurt or bother other people that way if you lock them up where they are away from everyone else. This would be my bare minimum.

The death penalty is barbaric. Why should society murder people? Also, they need to work on guns that don't kill for police. A lot of times, they hit the wrong people or kids by accident.
