I remember someone talking about their dog destroying the plastic tray in the bottom of the cage. Wondering how you were able to get them to stop or if you found one they could not destroy. My 8 month old lab/ pyrenees has destroyed 2. UGHHHH

Yup, blankets. That's what we've switched to. I actually bought a big comforter at Good Will for $4 and that's what my dogs use. I was buying fluffy beds that fit inside the cage, but they destroy those, too.

I was thinking about a blanket also but she has shredded towels we out in there so not sure about that option

That'd be me. :surrender:

I did buy a replacement tray that seemed a bit sturdier - it seemed more rubbery. But she was able to crack that also. I ended up putting a throw rug under the crate, left the 3/4 of the tray that remained in there and put a blanket in as well.

She's shredded her fair share of stuff I've put in there and has managed to do a pretty good job on the rug that's underneath. The only way I seem to ger her not to shred something is to start out with it on my bed (it happened as a fluke). I got a new quilt so I ended up putting the old one in her crate and she never even bit a hole in it. I just switched her over to a warmer throw for the crate and put that on my bed first for a weekend so she would notice. So far it's worked.

Good luck.

Oh yeah - Sophie's done that too. I bought a nice fluffy warm pad to put in her crate. She destroyed the hell out if it the first time I left her alone with it in there. Now she just gets hand-me-downs. :giggles:

The throw rug I'm using is a cheapie from KMart. They wash well and I hang them on the fence to dry and they dry really quickly. I had bought a bunch of them when Sami was having a really hard time walking on our lino floors so now they're being put to use again.

We removed the tray after she cracked it. Her cage now sits on plush carpet. She gets nothing now and is fine with that. No blankies, pillows or bed, but we don't leave her in the cage for more than 4 hours.
