[*]Justin Smith discovered lying unconscious in snow in February 2015

He's officially back on his feet and such this year and has gone to finish up school. I saw it in the local news originally, but it still amazes me. How do you guys react? My dad and I were honestly astounded to the point we've been sharing what we heard offline as much as possible.

The frigid cold was not enough to overcome the warmth of his beating heart... ;)

Hm, is this the perfect account for providing paramount research in cryonics? Maybe!

I don't believe those temps he was frozen in was enough to allow him to come back to life, but strange things happen I guess.

DS: He did take a long time to recover as much as he has mind you, and he did lose all his toes and a few fingers from frostbite- it's not like he came back unscathed. But I agree- honestly, seeing it made me look it up because of the fact it felt so hard to believe, even from a preferred local news source. But at least it makes me feel better about the fact if I do get lost in a snow bank [since I'm shorter than a lot of them sometimes]...o.o;

Selena: It really does make cryogenics seem more plausible, right? Though it's more about how they revived him that I find interesting.

From what I have read about cryonics, it is impossible to find any place on the planet (not even the North Pole) with the required temperature to preserve a dead body in a state that would allow it to be revived with future technology. Te only way that this can be done is in a laboratory. So, I don't really understand how come this man was revived after being frozen outside a laboratory.

DS: Personally, my guess is he wasn't actually dead even though they couldn't find his pulse. If he was, he might have literally just hit death- you can revive someone within a short period of their death in hospitals sometimes. Not fully sure honestly, but it's been headlining all over. Personally, I'd like to think it worked out. But he was also otherwise a fairly healthy person. I doubt it'd work for me with my heart issues xD

Interesting tidbit. From what I understand, does this temperature have to be very specific or can it be within a range?

Well, this person is truly blessed with luck then, considering the circumstances.
