I got to thinking about this after murderer and cult leader Charles Manson passed away the other day. He was originally sentenced to death, however, it was commuted to life with the possibility of parole after the death penalty was abolished in the state of California. So, my question is, should the death penalty be abolished? If you are given the death penalty and the state that you are given that sentence in abolishes it, should your sentence stay the same or should they be allowed to change your sentencing? What about life in prison.....should you have the possibility of parole at some point? What is the point of giving someone the someone a life sentence in prison if you're going to give them the chance to get out at some point in the future?
