Sorry this is so long and probably boring to most of you but had to get this off of my chest cause I'M SO ****ING PISSED OFF...
As most here know my DH is a new immigrant here from Australia.
We hired a "lawyer" to do the paperwork to obtain his visa for us to the tune of $1000, which to us was a worthwhile amount to pay to make sure all was correct & got to the proper places at the proper times for his visa and green card...WELL
they eventually sent us papers for an interview with homeland security which should of been the last step of the process which was last Wed. Lawyer calls us on Tuesday to say he is missing our marriage certificate (ON THE DAY BEFORE THE INTERVIEW), which put me into a total tail spin ... how the **** do you miss this????? Lawyer knew I was pissed off and said he would come with us to the interview. I ordered a copy of it while I was on the phone with the lawyer even after he said oh wait, we have the license and one of the other lawyers just told him that was fine for the interview.
Get to the interview, which thank god was about only 10 minutes because I'd hate to think of what other **** ups in the papers they would of found. First question was name and address to both of us, I said my part, DH says his which is exactly the same and the interviewer looks and says "well...on the papers it says Durano, not Durand" (yes they are that picky). My eyes must of popped wide open with utter shock cause I had pointed that out to the lawyer several times to change, then she asks where is the Marriage Certificate, and AGAIN another **** up by the lawyer...I just wanted to die right there on the spot.
Got letter yesterday from homeland security for a copy of the marriage license which I got yesterday as well so have to send that in to them.
I don't think this is going to be a big deal and that his Visa will go thru as he did get a permit to get a social security card and stuff already but I don't think the lawyer should keep the full amount of the money he was paid.
I'm going to send a letter to the him, he works for a firm that is headed by one lawyer in particular...do you think send a letter to him and a cc to the head woman or letter to her and cc to him?
Any suggestions would be helpful really ... and how do I word that I am VERY disappointed in the service and would like some sort of money back...
maybe when I calm down...like in a month when this is all over...it'll come to me but my mind is a blank as to how to put this in a dignified way in a letter and not just spew out what a **** wad he is.
