Laugh tracks

What is your opinion on laugh tracks? They were quite popular years ago. I definitely remember them being use in older shows such as Happy Days. Now, I think the idea has lost its touch. It almost makes laughing feel forced instead of just enjoying the show.
Do you like laugh tracks? Do you think they are overused? Do you even avoid shows that use them extensively?

I remember when I was younger, laugh tracks used to be used so much in comedy shows that I would watch. I don't tend to hear them as much now though used. I felt they really did work well with the older TV shows I used to watch and they didn't feel overly used either so it wasn't annoying when they were used.
