I think I'll shoot myself in the head.

My baby shower was today, and while I got lots of cute stuff, I honestly think I'll vomit if I hear the phrase "aww..how cute!" again for like, three years. It's like no one could think of anything else to say..including me. "Aww..*another* onsie. How cute!" Blarg.

i hear ya mth. i remember my first baby shower and all i could think of was that i just wanted everyone to shut-up already, including myself.

my other sister-in-law must have been thinking the same thing because she went as far as taking pictures of me making all these dumb, lameass "cute" faces. then she got them developed and cut out 50 pictures of my head in various stages of "cute," glued them onto a card, and mailed it to me. god, it was hysterical. funniest thing i ever did see.

it's pathetic isn't it? i think bridal showers are actually worse though ... "oh, that blender, it ... it just *blenderizes* SO well ... yadda, yadda ..."

not to sound ungrateful or anything

I've never had so many people just staring at me in my life. There were about 20 women gathered around me, STARING, watching me open stuff, and then there'd be this chorus of "Awwwwww!" Blech.

it is somewhat ... revolting, isn't it?

i've been invited to a few showers in my day, which i usually promptly and politely decline, claiming sudden illness, etc. i then mail a gift.

the only "cool" shower i ever attended was just recently at my brother-in-law's wife's baby shower. not your typical shower, mind you. there was mucho alcohol, loud music, and husbands/boyfriends were allowed to attend. she also mercifully downplayed the gift-opening segment, making it short and sweet, thank god.

i promise not to say "awwwww... how cute" (whoops), mth. but you're gonna have to brace yourself, because once you have a darling little baby you're gonna get a lot of it. of course, that might be different. i wouldn't know, not being a mother or female.

spidey, I would've killed to have a shower like that. Unfortunately, you don't really throw showers for yourself, so my mom and aunt sorta ruled over it. We played cheesey games and all that good stuff, too. While it was fun, I definately could've done without this whole big gift ceremony. ::shrug:: I'm not complaining *too* much, though. I did get tons of nice stuff.

I was in charge of making the friggin hat at my friends bridal shower. But that's what she likes (along with Precious Moments everything *gag*)

They tried to, spidey. When I wouldn't do that, my best friend started sticking bows right on my head, which I promptly snatched off and put in the trash bag.

Oh This Brings back Bad Bad Memories. i Had To Deal With The Hat Nonsense Too. Now My Lil One Is Nine Months Old And Getting A Fifth Tooth.He's A Bit Behind As He Is Just Starting To Crawl. He Is The First Grandchild On Both Sides Of The Family So We Dont Have To Buy Him Much. I Cant Resist Sometimes And Whenever I Have Spare Cash I Spend It On Him.Im Tempted To Post His Picture But Ill Have To Think About It.
