DS4 is in a Mother's Day Out program and today was his first day at the Early Childhood Education Center (working on fine motor skills).

I've been told by teachers at both places that "he is a very sweet boy."

Is this like real estate where "cozy" means "small"? Does this translate into something else? Or is he just really sweet?

 Don't worry, they prolly mean it. They prolly deal with some lil ****s so your son is a nice change of pace. :cartwheel:

"a very sweet boy"

That means he didn't bite anyone, throw toys, or rub his snotty nose on the teacher sleeve. He must have used manners and been helpful. Give him a high five or a hug for having such a good day!

Feel free to ask the teacher

Take it at face value. It is not going to change anything if it means anything different. It is most likely exactly what they meant. I personally never say anything I do not mean.Congrats on raising a very sweet lil boy

I agree with the others...congratulations on having the kid EVERYONE wishes they could teach....

However, my 'spidey-teacher-senses' are tingling... at such a young age I'd put my alert up to see if he's being taken advantage of by other children...toys taken away, pushed out of line...that kid of thing...I'm not saying to have him punch other children out...

because "He's a leader" DOES mean "bossy"
and 'social' means 'talks too much'

I think it is nice that you have a sweet boy. I happen to have the class "entertainer". Yeah.........

BTW.......Where have you been lately???????? Are you two timing us with another board ;)

I'm not terribly concerned about him being taken advantage of ... I've always thought of him "as a leader" :snort: which is why I'm always so surprised when I hear that he's "sweet."

.................or.......................:snicker:

...just kidding!!!

Fine by me! I'd be a good Mom for that ... if there is such a thing.

ME? Where have I been? What other board? (Paranoia is really setting in with me today.)

Hmmm ... We've had an influx of visitors since Labor Day and we took a vacation to Utah. I'm ready to get back to normal ... for me.

I am sure if there was in issue that you would've heard about it by now. Take it as a complement.

And this would describe my kid... he got written up for scratching another kid today... So not happy! He went through a biting phase that resulted in a change of daycare providers. I hope this isn't the start of another phase!!

Trust me, they'd tell you if he's a terror... Sigh

If it were anything other than positive, I would think the teacher would say something like: "He is a sweet boy, However......." You know: The old 'cushion the negative with a positive' trick. I am sure your boy is fine!

how old is he?

I am sorry you had to change providers because of biting.

Did they roll their eyes when they said it?

Did they take a long pause before the word 'sweet', like they were fishing around for a euphemism for little ****head?

Did they say "he is a very sweet boy, bless his lil heart"?

If the answer to all of the above is 'no', then don't worry about it. He's fine.

He's 3 1/2 now... The biting was a year ago. He has been pretty good lately although he did bite a family friend's 6 year old in August. When I went to talk to him about it he burst into tears before I said anything. Today the teacher told me to talk to him and I got a face like he's crazy... Or maybe that was directed at me... I feel like such a failure on these days :(
