So I made puppy chow the other day with Chex, made Rice Crispy treats yesterday (almost gone). Now what? I have about 50 boxes of cereal and the kids have given every indication that they will snack ALL summer long! lol

I have a gazillion boxes of Cheerios and they've both declared they won't eat it with just milk...boring. Sooo I need to make some treats with them.
Can I make 'em like rice crispy treats? Or like balls? I also have lots of Trix to use up.

HELP!!!

im still paying for cereal
i love kashi cereal. im cutting it out right now cuz i binge on cereals

Hate Kashi. Only tried it once and tossed the rest out...maybe I should try a diff. flavor.

I like Honey Bunches of Oats and can't seem to get that free.

I was looking at Allrecipes.com a week or so ago for recipes and found some for Cheerios.

Caramel Nut Crunch

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/4 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 cups Cheerios® cereal

1 cup pecan halves
1 cup walnut halves
1 cup salted dry-roasted peanuts
1 cup whole unblanched almonds
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a saucepan, heat the brown sugar, corn syrup, butter and salt over medium heat for 5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly.
2. In a large heatproof bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Pour hot syrup over cereal mixture; stir until well coated. Spread into greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake at 300 degrees F for 30 minutes or until crisp, stirring every 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack until slightly firm.

Sweet Tooth Treats

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup shredded coconut

2 cups Cheerios
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon shortening
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a bowl, combine peanut butter, corn syrup, sugar and coconut until blended. Stir in cereal. Shape into 1-1/2-in. balls.
2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt chocolate chips and shortening. Dip balls halfway into chocolate; place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets to harden.

Popcorn Snack Mix

INGREDIENTS:
3 quarts popped popcorn
4 cups Cheerios® cereal
4 cups Corn or Rice Chex® cereal
2 cups salted peanuts
1 cup packed brown sugar

3/4 cup corn syrup
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a large greased roasting pan, combine popcorn, cereal and peanuts. In a large saucepan, combine brown sugar, corn syrup and butter; bring to a rolling boil. Boil for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat; quickly stir in vanilla and baking soda until mixture is light and foamy. Immediately pour over popcorn mixture; mix well. Bake, uncovered, at 250 degrees F for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool completely.

Peanutty Caramel Bars

INGREDIENTS:
1 (14 ounce) package caramels
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup peanut butter, divided
4 cups Cheerios® cereal

1 cup salted peanuts
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, heat caramels, water and 1/2 cup peanut butter on high for 1 minute; stir. Microwave 1-2 minutes longer or until melted. Add cereal and peanuts; stir until coated. Spread into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. pan; set aside.
2. In another microwave-safe bowl, heat chips, butter and remaining peanut butter on high for 30-60 seconds or until melted. Spread over cereal mixture. Refrigerate before cutting.

Free cereal is cheaper than birdseed these days.

You're not kidding! I still can't get over the price increase at ShopRite. 20lb bag was $3.99 for years - all of a sudden that same bag was $5.99. Apparently bird seed must be made with gold flakes or something.:tap::gah:

With all the rain, I am setting cereal aside for the winter. I know that sounds crazy, but I feel the prices will go much higher. Seeing as ALOT of Iowans and western wisconsinites grow corn, cereal is going to skyrocket in price. So what they refuse to eat, box it up and set it aside. 5 months from now, it will still be good and they will have fogotten about it.
hope this helps

You can use crushed up plain cereal (like Cheerios, Chex, Corn Flakes) in most recipes where you'd use bread crumbs. Crushed corn flakes are one of our favorites for casserole toppings, especially party potatoes.

Thanks for the great ideas!

Ranger cookies- I use up everything in my pantry this way. I just break up the cereal in small pieces and toss it in. Vary the spices according to what you like- cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, chocolate, fruit flavors! No ne had ever figured out which cereal I was getting rid of.

Spell this out for me please. Do you have a rough recipe for me?
