Does everyone go to the gym to work out or do you mostly work out at home?

Also, has anyone trains at one of the UFC gyms? There is one in my area I've been thinking about trying out, but I am not sure if it's more of gimmick.

Thanks!

Gym in my opinion is better, as you have equipment; but then they can get crowded very often so you have to find the best time. At home, you can hurt yourself if you don't know what you're doing.

I used to belong to quite an exclusive gym about 10 years ago. I used to love that place but ended up socialising more than working out. So I think next time I start a regime I will be doing it in my own garage rather than a gym :)

I personally would never train at a UFC Gym, If you want to be taken seriously then just do MMA and learn the different martial arts involved. A lot of people from what I have read on the Internet will say anyone who trains at a UFC gym is a wannabe. If your goal is to just pack on big amounts of muscle then just join a serious regular gym. Though I'm sure the UFC facility gym is nice and you can be taught but I have a feeling it's almost like you would get lessons of a martial art at your YMCA equivalent.

I work out in a gym. I think its better because there you have all the equipment. If you were to purchase all that equipment for your home it would cost you a fortune. Plus its always nice to socialize with people at your gym.

I've created a somewhat adequate gym at home, since I live in a big apartment and I have lost of space, I've put in a bench press, squat rack, bars and a large amout of weights along with a treadmill. Can't say it replaces the gym, but sometimes when the weather is too cold and I'm staying in it's better than nothing! Still I'll never stop going to the gym because a big part of my buddies are there and I can't self spot at home lol.

Personally I lift weights at a separate gym and then do Muay Thai at an MMA gym. If you sign up to do MMA then make sure the trainers are legit and it's not a McDojo out to get money from you without teaching you correct technique.

Don't need a spotter. You can bench/squat in the squat rack and just use the safety bars, so if you get stuck you can easily climb from underneath the bar.

I have a gym in my basement but I do not have olympic weights, so saddly I can not work out there. So I ended up buying a membership to the ymca last week, already a week in and I do not go enough. Am going to change that starting tomorrow morning!

That sounds great, I wish that I had my own gym. I heard that the Ymca is cheap, is that true?

I prefer working out at home compared to a gym, you may get more equipment at a gym but its not always available. Plus my nearest gym is pretty far away so for me it's not really worth travelling so far 5 to 6 times a week when I can set up a pretty decent home gym setup that works perfectly fine for me.

I work out at a 24 hour gym. So awesome too be able to go whenever I want, and it's pretty quiet there too. I love it :)

I have been going to Anytime Fitness for a while and I absolutely love it. They have them all over the US and my key card gets me into any of them 24/7 which is great for when I am on the road.

As for the UFC Gym, it isn't a gimmick as much it is they marketing to people that think working out at the gym makes them a bad a**. I know a few of their instructors and they are legit. I personally would never workout at one though.

If your local YMCA has a good gym, then it is fore sure worth it. I send 35 dollars a month which including all the activities such as the basketball court which I frequent. Have not gone in the pool yet, also there is a hockey rink at my ymca, above it is our running track. In my opinion it is a great deal.

Pretty sure your first time you go is free.

Those rock climbing gyms are really cool. Just wall to wall with places to climb. I've really been wanting to get a membership. How much do you pay?
