Twin #2 has been suffering a horrible case of acid reflux. So severe that it landed her in the emergency room two days ago.

She is on meds to control it and it will take time for her eophagus to heal. She is eating as bland as she can stand but needs to have fluids too.

Does anyone know where I can buy ginger tea or know how to make it?

I make it all the time with fresh ginger. I just peel the ginger & slice it. I then put it in the pot with some water. Bring it to boil and keep boiling for another 10 minutes. You can then use that to make ginger tea. If your DD like it strong, then put more ginger. If she likes it weak, then add some more water.

I make mine with ginger ale...I heat up the liquid and use any tea bag I have on hand...

My kid is driving me nuts. I'm as sick as a dog and she expects me to run around looking for funking tea. UGH I'm going out in a while and buying a piece of ginger and making it for her so she will stop driving me nuts.

Potatoes are one of the best foods for healing reflux. Also, everyone's triggers are different. I can eat tomato products, but wheat & onions aggravate my reflux. I have been reflux free for almost a year now.

I recently bought it on Amazon (I want to say it was Yogi Tea brand). Not sure if this is exactly what I bought (I thought I bought pure ginger tea and this has a few other herbs), but here is a link to a product.

I love ginger tea; it helps with nausea and other stomach issues.

Yes I saw the Yogi brand at Jewel. It was $5, I passed on it and got real ginger instead because the kid will drive me nuts try it then decide that she hates it.

Yes, potatoes I would think would be good but the website on foods to avoid says stay away from them. It doesn't really matter kid hates potatoes so bread is her best option at the moment.

I've had acid reflux all my life so I know exactly the pain she is going through. If I want to eat something that is acidity I make sure I take a long acting Pepcid in the morning. Last week she tempted fate and made herself water with oranges in it one day, lemon water another day. Then she ate spicy foods, without her Pepcid. This list of what she ate and did last week made her acid go crazy but she is a kid and kept doing it all when I told her to stop. Now she is suffering. Lesson learned I hope!

I have never purchased fresh ginger. I never realized how easy it is to peel and now the tea is made. Can't wait to taste it.

In the Winter, I have this honey/lemon/ginger concoction in my fridge at all times...

1. Slice a pre-washed lemon (with the peel) into pieces.
2. Peel ginger and slice into pieces.
3. Put the sliced lemon and ginger into a glass mason jar (or anything glass and with a lid).
4. Fill the jar with honey. You may need to press the lemon and ginger down so that the honey can fill the jar.
5. Put the jar in the fridge so that the juices from the lemon and ginger can infuse into the honey.
6. To make the tea, pour alittle of the honey (with or without the lemon and ginger) into a mug and pour boiling water over it. Or add it to any tea.
7. When the honey is out or running low, I just top off the honey reusing the ginger and lemon in the jar.

So easy and healthy...
