What do you like to use? What do you consider the best? You can make more than one answer. Anyway, myself, I can't see much a difference in the popular brands. However, I do like MyBB quite a bit, but it requires a small bit of effort to get it mobile complaint and to get the alert system going.
I myself when it comes to free forum software have always been a fan of MyBB. I have always found that MyBB is the closest I will get to something similar to Xenforo or vBulletin so if there is ever a time I can't afford to be on paid software I can still have something similar to what I like to use and it not cost me anything.
