Food delivery apps

Do you use any food delivery apps like Just Eat, UberEats or Deliveroo? Those are the three big companies in the UK. I know that UberEats is in the US but I'm not sure about the other two though. I've also heard there are others like DoorDash and Grubhub.

Have you ever used any of these food delivery services before? I find that my experience with them is very mixed. Sometimes my food will arrive quickly and then other times it will take much longer for the food to arrive and is sometime cold.

I also found out that it's more expensive because they have to cover their operating costs too so it's really not a good idea to use them if you can avoid it. What has your experience been with these types of services?

I find them to be quite unreliable with their delivery timings and also the warmth of the food on arrival. I have used Just Eat and Deliveroo in the past, but often opt for going to collect my food instead, as it is cheaper as you avoid the app charges and delivery charges and can also have more control over the way the food is transported to maintain quality.

The food delivery apps that are available around where I live are pretty good and I think we're quite lucky to have good drivers that try and make it to you on time. That's my experience anyway.

I know friends that have had food turn up cold, turn up really late and there was one instances where the food turned up half eaten for one of my friends. Safe to say they were very angry!

At the moment I have Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eat, and Food Hub on my phone. I tend to use Food Hub a lot more though over the others as the others have quite a big fee unless you use their premium services and for how much I use them, the premium services wouldn't be worth it for me. With Food Hub usually, it is a small delivery fee and a 0.50p marketplace fee which is better than what some places charge. Sometimes when I used Food Hub we pick the food up so we eliminate the delivery fee as well.

I don't make use of food delivery apps. I make most of the meals that I eat at home and whenever that I have this urge to buy food, I go out myself.
