Refuse to give in to DVD till
1. there is a way to record on them (you can't do that right?)
2. the prices come down
3. the vcrs all go kapute
Gee, kinda feel about vcrs the way I felt about my 8 tracks when cd's came out.
1) There are recorders out there, but most must be imported from Japan, and are not worth the cost because you give up certain features in the recording process.
2) You can regularly find a decent DVD player for $150 or less.
The one thing that really makes DVD stand out is the sound. Without a home theater setup, you're probably missing out on 50% of the benefits.
Unless you're willing to go the extra step and get a home theater receiver and the appropriate speakers, it's really not worth it.
However, if you are willing to go the distance, you may never go out to the movies again. I thought the landlady's dog was gonna poop itself when we put on Saving Private Ryan in DTS.
