I know times have changed but when I was in secondary school, discipline was top of the ladder. We had a disciplinary committee in charge of beating and punishment. They had a room for it and woe betide any student who was called to that room. Now we see it as child abuse, but permit me to say it formed me to be a better person somewhat, the fear of being beaten or punished kept me from doing so many baaaad things. I don't support it anyway. How was discipline carried out in your days in high school?

I agree that it is very important for schools to adopt a good form of discipline. That is the only way that anyone can be able to get it right for the kids.

When I was in high school, you were disciplined in a way that would teach any student a lesson without any physical altercation between the student and the teacher. It was always detention or some form of punishment that meant you missed out on something you would much rather be doing and that often meant many people would steer clear of misbehaving so they didn't have to miss out on doing things they wanted to. Even now with my kids in school, they have detention and they also have something called reflections where if a child misbehaves enough, they spend the whole of a school day in one room where they do all their work and eat their dinner and stay in there without any break until they leave to go home and that is usually after an hour detention as well in the same room. So you are talking 7 hours in one room and the only reason you can leave is to use the bathroom. It works fairly well as most kids don't want to end up in that situation again.
