Do you think it is wide spread, the government hiding a lot of corruption, or do you think it is only a small section that are corrupt?

Hard to say, I know a lot of shady stuff goes on in the background and under the table to the point I won't bother with voting.

Corruption exists anywhere around the world; it's human nature.

A State Senator of California by the name of Leland Yee was found guilty for corruption and gun trafficking after they associated him with extremist groups. Scary part of it all stems from the fact that he was in charge of parts of San Francisco, near the place where I'm currently living.

Government is corrupt by nature. It's always been that way. You think it's bad now but it's not. Reference Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall. http://www.albany.edu/~dkw42/tweed.html

The issues with politicians is that we give them power, and power corrupts. I won't go as far to say that all politicians are corrupt; however, the majority of them are, because that's part of how they work.

The thing is, corrupt or not, we have to place a certain amount of trust in our leaders. Look at a forum, or any other website for that matter. The minute you no longer trust the administration is when the entire system breaks down, and there is chaos. We, as the people, have the ensure that the people we elect are not slimy people.

Yeah, we are always aware of the presence of corruption, we just hope that it does not become a huge problem that affects a larger range of people than it already does. There is no way around it, as for politics, you have to know how to play the game. It's you win or you lose, there is no middle ground.

@Dreamleader That's exactly why rebellions occur.

Yeah... and I think we'd be better off in an orderly society than a society where a terrorist group has taken over your city and is ruling it like warlords (exactly what is happening with ISIS).

There is corruption in politics in pretty much any country now adays. Politicians want to become the leaders of the country for their OWN achievements rather than to HELP the country improve.

There is corruptness in big countries aswell, believe it or not. UK, US, you name 'em.

You're exactly right. And you can generalize that as well. It's part of human nature.

Corruption has eaten so deep into the fabrics of our society that at this point you wouldn't even see a single government official who isn't on this train. In my region here the government are busy pillaging on the general wealth of the public and selfishly enriching themselves without even caring for the lives and general wellbeing of those who they claim to serve and protect even swearing oaths to do so. Its so sickening and we don't think it would ever get any better.

Politics is rife with corruption because they know that they can take advantage without any recourse. Especially in The US where lobbyists pay politicians to vote for or against their interests.

Politics is a tricky thing because there is always someone that will feel like they’re not being listened to. The only issue is most of the time it’s the ‘little guy’ that gets worse off.

Money talks. Let's not be "holier than thou" and think only politicians can be victims. In the end, people get greedy and/or desperate and follow the cash.

Anyway, some people don't understand that political campaigns are expensive. Aside from someone like Trump, who has the money to front one? Trump can act all arrogant and stubborn to the mainstream - because he can't be bought out.

The truth is that most of these politicians are corrupt and they don't hide it anymore. You get to the point where they start to acquire more public funds without thinking about the consequences that comes with that kind of move.

Politicians are definitely corrupted, maybe not all of them are but the majority of them are. It's like this in any country, some are worse than others however. They want more money, and don't really care how they get it. They also lie all the time and many people fall for their lies so they continue to get elected or re-elected, continuing their corruption.

I realize that a politician can't be a goody-two-shoes. However, after a point it can be seen that some of them have no morals and you can't use campaign funding as an excuse.

The government is never going to be corrupt as a whole, at least the united states. But certain people in the government could possibly do corrupt things. That much can be said.
