I want to run a few contests for the Christmas period on my site but I'm just not sure what kind of contests to do. I want more participation but I also want my users to actually enjoy the contests. Posting competitions just don't seem to do as well anymore on forums so that's ruled out. Anyone have an idea?
Well, you could always do some kind of Christmas themed contest since you're planning to do it around Christmas time. You could also do contests that go along with the niche` on your forum. For instance, if you run a gaming forum, you could do some kind of contest that is gaming related.
Any kind of contest is worth doing as long as the prize is good enough. A lot of people do cash prizes for winning a contest on a forum but it’s up to you. A posting contest is pretty easy to do, or you could do some kind of creative thing like a photo editing or drawing contest. It depends on what is suitable for your community.
I once ran a contest on my forum. I offered a cash incentive for the person who created maximum posts in a month. Sadly, there were not many participants and I had to shut down the contest. When you decide to lunch a contest make sure there are enough participants.
