Which do you prefer? And which e-reader is better. I love to read but since our library has moved and awaiting the new one to open, I have not read anything in quite a while. I don't buy books but I understand that I can rent books from the library for the e-reader. Is this for free? Really need to start doing something other than Words with Friends to keep the old age away.

the e-reader books from the library are free--but popular titles take a long time to get (IMO) also I THINK that you have only 2 or 4 weeks then it is no longer in your list--I used to use the library for mp3 audio books all the time ( and PS my neighbor works in the back office of the Alsip Library , so when I want something from there I call her and she brings it home for me :))

Bought a Kindle Fire for me, Lex absconded with it and now it is "his".

So I get books from the library.

I have over 2000 books ready to load on the Kindle should it ever become "mine" again. Amazon offers hundreds of freebies every day (in most cases with quality to match the 'free').

I've never been able to borrow an e-book from the library. I don't know if the instructions are just for regular Kindles and not the Kindle Fire. I love not having to drive 20 minutes to return something.

Does that complete mismash of statements help?

I didn't think I would like an ereader then my DD got me a Kindle for mothers day and I discovered I love it. I have gotten lots of ebooks free from Amazon. I keep it in my purse and when I go to all the kids activities I like that I have all my books there with me, if I feel like reading a novel I can or if I want to check out some recipes in a cookbook I can. I would recommend it.

OMG I typed up this long thing and lost it.... summarizing myself now.

I read a book a week and have a Kindle.

Kindle pro's.
*Free popular books via Amazon and our library, CPL.
*Saves money and time getting books, less trips to CPL, gas savings.
*Use to buy $1 books from half price book store, now not so much due to free book availability.
*Nice to open the Kindle and have it be on the page you left on.

Cons
*Sucks when you want to flip back pages to find something you wanted to reread.
*Can't take it to Great America or somewhere it can get wet, stolen, broke etc.
*Not a lot of newer free books readily available.
*Can't share or resell an ebook on an e-reader.

I am old school. I have a Kindle(I do love it) I love that it offers a TON of free books and its portability. However, I do LOVE to hand turn a page and the smell of a book :-)
