I have the task of trying to sell an engagement ring. I'm going to go the jeweler it was originally purchase from first but not sure where to go from there. Anyone have experience with this? Ebay? Craigslist?
My bff sold her's on Craigslist. It was quick & she got more than her ex paid for it. She met in a VERY busy coffee shop in Chicago for the exchange & then hung out there for awhile longer to be sure the guy left. I think her's was several thousand dollars, so she was extra cautious.
Depending on when she bought it, at a reputable jeweler the price of the melt (gold) might be close to or more than what she paid. The stone may be just the gravy.
Anyway your friend would be well worth her while to go where Sporush recommended. I'm sure she would give you her real name if you PM. The price of gold is through the roof.
We sold my DH (ex) wedding ring for WAY more than he paid for it (in 1993). We sold it to a jeweler for just the value of the gold, it was out of style and they didn't intend to keep it intact as a ring.
