Astrology/Horoscopes

This stuff freaks me out* I went to a psychic in 99' and a lot of stuff was accurate and I kept my mouth shut as to not lead her

well, i've looked at everything for cancer, and everything about my chart. and it's really weird, because *everything* is accurate.

oh well, spaghettio's

Anyone believe in this stuff? I gotta admit, I read my horoscope EVERY day, I feel kind of panicked if I don't read it...then I promptly forget whatever it said, and go about my day.

That said, I have in the past bought those "star-scrolls" in the middle of the month and found them to be shockingly accurate for the days that had already passed...

Here's mine for today:
The Sun is in Capricorn and the Moon is going from Libra into Scorpio. Is somebody trying to get you upset to gain an advantage? If so, stall. Your luck, power and influence will improve over the next few days, getting much better by next week.

Eek! This makes me nervous because I have a job interview in a few hours, but I'm determined to overcome that.

Interesting and varied responses. It is not unusual for people to totally repudiate astrology at all, but there are some (my older sister wrote her thesis for her masters called: "A combination of the exact sciences of astrology and psychology" and it reads very well and rings true too) who dedicate their lives to this unrecognised science. Respectable people too. I cannot but believe that if the sun influences you (heat/temperature/moodiness etc take your pick)
and it is a known fact that the moon affects many too...why not the other planets?
Being a Leo, I do not always get attributed with the greatest astrological characteristics (bossy, temperamental, argumentative etc) Yet I've come to believe that all 11 planetary entities have had an influence on who I am today. Predictions? HmmmH...a little more careful there. I try to shape my own destiny within the parameters related to my signs.
And really...*extends her paw for you to kiss or to shake if you are a girlie* ...you only have to hear me roar to know, without any doubt, that I'm a Lioness tee hee! *puRrRrRrRrR*

I guess my own take is that I find horoscopes fun, interesting, and at times uncannily accurate, but I don't live my life by them. They do sometimes have good general advice though, which make good reminders.

I agree that you shape your own destiny and that the predictions are if at times accurate, just for fun.
That 12 distinct personality types exist, each with the other aspects related to the planets other than the sun, I do not hesitate to believe, though. this debate is not new, in fact it is quite ancient and still there are the adherents and the repudiaters. The fact that mankind differs so much has added tremendously to our growth

I find this stuff rather fascinating. I don't think it's the end all be all, though. I just think it is fun to see the predictions and how accurate they can be. I also find it fascinating that I am a classical Cancer with some Virgo qualities (I was told I have Venus effecting me).

Someone, once, showed me these charts you can study to find the compatability between two potential individuals. The required parameters to generate these charts include your exact birthdate (date and time) and location (city, state, and country).

I, too, think you can shape your own destiny...that it is not shaped for you. The quote from The Terminator says it all. "The future is not set. There is no fate except what we make for ourselves."

Yeah, my personality definitely fits the Aries profile... Likes to be center of attention, stubborn, impatient, impulsive...

I've heard that if you actually have your chart done based on the date, time, and place of your birth, it's uncanny.

Yes, from what I understand, when you have your birth chart done, you not only know your base constellation, but you also know your interactions with other constellations and what characteristics you draw from dominant planets and other constellations. It's not just the sun in your constellation...it's the other planets in other constellations, as well. It's frightening how well they can construct your personality from all of this.

I'm not really big on horoscopes.
I don't usually bother reading them.

i used to read mine but my newspaper has the most pitiful horoscopes on the planet: "you may encounter a minor difficulty today. hold on, it will pass." i just don't bother now

i've never believed in them, but it was perfect once when i was in oregonand my sister's friend accidentally bought tickets for the afternoon play instead of the morning (or something) and his wife couldn't come, and my horoscope said "a change of plans may be necessary due to someone's unwitting error" - it was creepy, but it hasn't been accurate since
