This subject was brought up before and it sounds like there is interest in repeating the holiday share drive similar to last year. So, I've been thinking about scheduling options. Last year got pretty hectic with my personal holiday preparations and I'd like to wrap it all up a little earlier this year.
I'd prefer to have all donation requests sent to me via PM by Saturday 11/10. Please remember that all requests will remain anonymous. Then I can publish the list and we can have all donations in by 12/01 and the deliveries can go out the following weekend.
Last year the gifts were labled by the town they were going to. Sometimes the delivery went through two or three different people, so the end destination was not known by the driver. Most things were packaged pretty securely so the contents were not known either.
Please share any input you have to make improvements to the system. Don't be shy...last year was the first time we did this and at times we really flew by the seat of our pants! You can put your ideas here or send me a PM.
We will also be looking for drivers in the different areas of Chicagoland.
Last year we collected wrapping paper, gift bags, tape and etc which I thought was a good idea too.
Typical share requests were clothing, toys, books, household items, personal care items, non-perishable food and gift cards. For those of you making requests,...it is helpful for you to be specific. Please include the age(s) and sex of the child(ren) for identification purposes and let me know the general location you'd like to receive your gifts.
